Shakeology Challenge Introduction

Disclaimer: As of the beginning of this experiment, I have no affiliation with Beachbody or Shakeology. I am not a Beachbody coach or club member and I paid full price for all Shakeology products.

Brief Rundown

On July 6th, I am going to begin what will hopefully be a 90 Day Shakeology Challenge! I plan to consume one Shakeology shake per day, in place of a meal, and keep track of any changes I see and feel. I will also continue my running streak and will thus have at least 20 minutes of easy cardio each day.

I say, "hopefully" because I am not a fan of protein shakes and have yet to find one I can tolerate. When researching Shakeology, every challenge review I read raved about the taste which made me willing to give it a try. Part of me still thinks that anyone who didn't like the taste didn't want to post about giving up their challenge on Day 1. I am starting this page early because I admit to being a protein shake wimp and will have no problem giving up if necessary.

I am going to take pictures on Day 1, Day 30, Day 60, and Day 90. I will also weigh myself and measure thighs, hips, and waist weekly. If you have any additional suggestions please comment below or send me a message!

Why Shakeology?
    1. It contains nutrients found in fruits and vegetables. I really like fruits and vegetables but I tend to have a fast/famine schedule when it comes to eating them. I will buy 3 pounds of grapes and eat them all in 2 days then nothing. Or, I will cook a week's worth of vegetables Sunday afternoon to save time but end up eating 3/4 of them before I even go to bed. I want Shakeology to fill in the gaps.
    2. It is fast and simple. I need something to eat at my desk that will help me power through the last few hours at work, a post-work workout, and still have enough time to prepare a good evening meal.
    3. It is supposed to eliminate junk food cravings. I like healthy foods but I also love junk. I don't want to feel like I am constantly telling myself no. Shakeology is supposed to be something that tastes good, is good for me and curbs the junk food cravings.
    4. It is reported to help stop the caffeine habit. Many reviews mentioned less need for coffee and one mentioned no longer wanting soda. I can't stand coffee but I love Coke and Diet Coke. I currently give up all soda and caffeine for 1-2 months at a time to prove that I can but I always end up going back to drinking it. I hope Shakeology will help to eliminate the desire for soda.

Desired Results

  1. Weight - I will be happy if Shakeology once a day allows me to stay in the Content range without worrying too much about what I am eating each day. I will be ecstatic if it made the Overjoyed range possible with just my normal training load.
  2. Measurements - I would like to lose some inches from my thighs, hips, and stomach. I don't have reference numbers from the past so I can't set specific goals.
  3. Meals/Snacking - I am currently in sticker-shock from the cost of Shakeology. I want the savings from reduced snacking and replacing one meal a day to obviously outweigh the initial monthly cost of shakes.
  4. Soda - I want to eliminate soda consumption without feeling like I am punishing myself.
  5. Extras
    • Improved hair, skin and nails
    • Higher energy levels
    • Better Sleep
    • Better Moods
